Peace,
I don't mesh them. They both have totally different body language. What I will say is that Capoiera Angola has caused me to pay more attention to my footwork when doing 52 and 52 has caused me to pay more attention to my hands during Capoiera Angola
Good to here from you ,hope you are training hard! Also, we need a afrikan-centered martial artist to do a demo in so.philly for a community cultural center. i cannot do since i am so far away. can you make a referral? i promised them i would check around to meet their request.

Now 20 years ago - my reaction to an enemy in life was quite raw.... A "Drop the Atom Bomb" Mentality!
All praises to the Creator - I have grown in patience as well as age.... Now that doesn't mean that I might not make a mistake, while I am taking my deep breath to calm down and throw my hands in the air and accidently hit the lamp on the table which will fall on that red button.... Boom!! LOL
Peace

Htp Bro Kamau, It's good to hear from you. I',m in LA right now I had planned on attending the Inosanto Academy while I was in the area but it didn't happen because of time constraints. How are things on your end?
It didn't happen on purpose. I was born a sick kid in 1960. I wasn't expected to live to the age of five but as always God has plans. As long as I can remember, I was enamored of warriors. It didn't hurt that my father and my oldest brother were both phenomenal. My father was from Carolina Puerto Rico where they fought machete duels. He taught me a lot about how to think as a warrior. His most important lessons to me where what he called Querpa Fuertes, which means strong body. The things he taught me enabled me to live where I would have surely died. My brother was a jailhouse fighter. He learned in New York where he was a member of the Stompers, a street gang. I had teachers that taught asia fighting systems, such as grandmaster Hulon Willis. He had one of the oldest martial arts programs in the United States with his classes on Kyokushinkai being taught at Virginia State College, but he taught it in a distinctly African way. It was his mentoring that gave me the courage to explore the roots of my fathers fighting culture as well as other diasporic martial arts. However, I don't consider myself special or even unique. I first consider myself blessed to have had the type of dynamic men and women in my life to help me to become the person that I am. Lastly, I consider life to be a journey and in my life I just consider that I have had more rest stops than some. Thank you for the conversation bro Kamau. Oh and by the way you may remember me from some of the other African martial arts forums as Hannibal. I have read your writings before and have always appreciated your wisdom.peace
Thanks for comment, it means allot. I deeply appreciate all the work you have done bringing us together. I can remember a time when it was next to impossible to find any info on African derived combat arts.
Stay up,

Although Grandmaster Rogers was not the first to coin the phrase or to develop an "African American Martial Art" He is the first to Authenticate African American Martial Arts with historical references particularly Kwa Asilia Avita Sanaa. Just as in…
