About Me:
My name is Dannte. In the capoeira tradition my apelido is Cabeceiro(practitioner of the headbutt). My teacher is Mestre Kinha of Capoeira Besouro Grupo.I studied on and off with my teacher for five years before moving back to Cincinnati. Growing up I was privaleged to study street boxing or what we called enforcer or knuckle up.The beginnings of this brutal fist fighting method came from a older style from the south called Alto 52.I learned that this fight came from and even older method called Jail House Rock. This art is the mother art to many african american fighting styles.Found within the penial system by african slaves who were themselves warriors and developed from original african warrior arts it was a fighting method used literally to keep the imprisoned slaves alive.Void of the fancy movements used in many African martial sciences today it was a tool used by the warrior / slave to survive. The main tools used were headbutts(knockin),Quick low kicks to the lower extremities (kickin),Catmans(leg and foot sweeps)Pick ups(bodyslams),Knuckle up(punches/chops,slaps,clawing,raking),biting,pressure point study(striking vernerable areas)improvised weapons (both making and using)basic strength training.Power breathing to deliver and recieve blows. This art was very complete in terms of effectiveness in real life or death combat and its methods are still usable today.I learned most of these methods from my uncles who in turn learned them while incarcerated in prison. These arts still exist and they are still keeping african americans prisoners alive behind bars. This is the beginning of my journey as a warrior.

Afrikan fight games of North America

Greetings to all my fellow afrikan warriors.I wanted to start a discusion on some of the little known African American fight games of old such as pushing and shoving (a grappiling game) and knockin and kickin (a stricking game using head butts low to high kicks and leg sweeps). To my understanding there is also a full contact stick game that derived from the mother art of Kalinda (Carribean stick fight game). If any one has any input or knowledge of these I believe to be extinct fight games your k… Continue
